Just got my water bill... I will be voting against you in the next election. Just thought you should know I also plan on donating to whoever is running against you. I can understand a small increase in the water bill... but nearly $100?!?!

mayor
you seem to say you are pro business yet every mechant i interviewed said you were not and only cared about ward one residents
some said you change the rules to hurt business when your agenda calls for it. very interested in seeing your response

Tonight I counted four cars parked on Dean Street that don't have residential parking stickers. They shouldn't be here. Since your officers don't ticket people after 5 p.m., there are no consequences for violating the law.

Would you please make Dean Street resident-only parking between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.? Meanwhile, would you please implement regular parking enforcement in the evening hours?

Dear Mayor Cohen,

I apologize for delivering this message by email, but I'll be working tomorrow at 4 p.m., and therefore unable to protest this latest closed City Council meeting in person. So please treat this message as if I appeared before you.

It seems that not a week goes by that you folks find a reason to meet in secrecy. Indeed, as Eric Hartley pointed out in a recent blog post, tomorrow will mark the 16th time you've slammed the doors shut on transparency, for no reason other than because you can.

But should you continue these discussions behinds closed doors? Just because the law allows you to seek advice from your attorney about a legal matter doesn't mean that matter is sensitive enough to warrant a private discussion. Unfortunately, only you can make that determination, because you never give us a large enough window into the proposed topic of discussion that allows us to make our own determination.

Such secret meetings foster divisiveness and suspicion, which only threatens to delay start of Market House improvements. I just don't see any reason for this 16th secret meeting, and I believe you would be hard pressed to justify it's necessity.

I urge you to vote no on closing tomorrow's meeting to the public.

Sincerely,

Ryan Bagwell
