Hello. Please enlighten me: Why does the city need a City Manager???
Aren't there enough people with their inept hand in the cookie jar?

We are laying off people but paying for a City Manager. And, I'm sure as with
all self-serving political arms...there will be justification for overpaying this human
to fill the position.

Just look at Supt. Kevin Maxwell. Our tax dollars are continually siphoned off for school
projects but the board turns right around and steals our money to give this overpaid human
$20,000.00. And, that is only the money they stole that we know about. How much did they
pad into other documents?

So, can someone explain why this is necessary. And, why we are soo apathetic that we continually
allow the ilk of Erhlich, O'Malley, Busch, Miller and the like to seize office as if it is their birthright???

When will we grow some spine?? Thanks

I disagree with your comment. After successfully transitioning from the private sector into the public sector, I took an added risk to work with the City of Annapolis. After having been layoff from the City of Annapolis recently and listening to Mayor Cohen break his oath of first targeting contract employees and hiring freezes, I found it hard to believe he hired Mr. Doug Smith who is well over six figures to recommend and form these Idea Teams (another waste of money). Then the Mayor goes on a campaign to remarket the city like it’s a game and waste more revenue to foolish propaganda. Mayor Cohen will have to eventually raise taxes and this includes fees for water and sewer services in light of concessions. The Mayor has other options, but is unwilling to work with staff. Anne Arundel and the rest of the State of Maryland responded to revenue shortfalls with furloughs, however, Josh is quick to fire and wasted a lot of resources. He also went behind the back of council. This is not transparency.

Dear Josh -

I'm part of Ward 1 and just read your response to the information distributed by ABC. I appreciate you addressing any inaccuracies. I implore you to adhere to your campaign platform and do explore every option prior to even considering a raise in property taxes. Increasing taxes on an already burdened population cannot be the answer. Decreasing services (trash pickup only once a week, etc....), additional cuts in personnel (I fear that people view employment by the government as a safe haven --- instead our governments should be run with fiscal responsibility in mind. If we can't afford the staff we have, then cut!), furloughs, etc.... We are overtaxed already!!!

Thanks.
John Burke
